The Hashima XR Project

The Hashima XR Project is a collective of historians, software designers, and heritage researchers from Japan and the United Kingdom who share a common vision of applying Virtual Reality technology to preserving the history and heritage of Hashima Island, known colloquially as Battleship Island.

Hashima Island is also a very controversial UNESCO site because of its contested history. For the Japanese, it is a symbol of their industrial heritage. For its neighbors, the Island is the scene of wartime forced labour by Koreans and Chinese for Japanese imperial expansion.

Be clear, be confident and don’t overthink it. The beauty of your story is that it’s going to continue to evolve and your site can evolve with it. Your goal should be to make it feel right for right now. Later will take care of itself. It always does.
